Celebrating the beginning of Spring!

How did this happen you ask? Well, today Scott and I decided to go to the Hare Krishna Festival of Colors. Neither of us really knew what it was besides a huge colored powder throwing party. Our friends invited us to go and it sounded kinda fun so we checked it out. It was a fun, interesting experience...

This is the Hare Krishna temple in Spanish Fork. Doesn't it look like Aladdin's Palace? We've passed it many times and as we walked towards it today we saw all the people...the place was crowded!

This is a "before" picture for you. We were in line to buy our colored chalk. We got 3 bags of colored chalk to throw...purple, yellow, and green I believe.

As we walked away, the crowd was still throwing chalk, dancing, and having a blast.

So just a note, we had no idea what this all was, what it was for and why they did it every year but I looked it up online later today and found out we were celebrating the beginning of spring! This Festival of Colors represents the passing of winter into spring and all the colored chalk is thrown to signify the joy and colors of spring arriving! It was a lot of fun. Hopefully we'll be able to get all the chalk out of our ears, nose, and hair! :)
